Toshiba brings New 7” Android-based
Toshiba today announces its Android-based BookPlace DB50 e-readers inJapan. It comes with a nice 7” color touch LED backlight LCD with a WSVGA resolution (600×1024), 8 GB of internal memory (eMMC) and powered by a 1GHz Freescale i.MX535 CPU. Other features includes both WiFi BGN and Bluetooth as well as a USB 2.0 and a microSD Card slot. The reader is designed for Toshiba’s own BookPlace store, which already sells books via both iOS and Android apps.

Schedule to be put on sale later this February, The reader will cost about 22,000 yen (around $284), though that includes 5,000 yen ($64) worth of credit for the BookPlace store. DB50 will be compatible with Toshiba’s BookPlace store strong of about 50,000 books and other magazines. Toshiba aims to have 1.5 million users for its online store in Japan by March 2016.
